The Drama Teaching Emporium was founded by Ian Breeds and Sarah Tyler Shaw, the creative minds behind Creation Drama Studio, a highly successful English speaking drama school based in Spain.
As we head into our 11th year of running our own drama school, having taught over 1000 students of all ages and nationalities, we’ve experienced firsthand the challenges drama teachers face—spending hours searching for effective exercises and struggling with long, complex plans that take more time to read than to teach.
We often found ourselves lacking inspiration from the typical drama exercises available online, so we decided to curate and develop our own content, drawing from our training, knowledge, and real-world experiences in theatre, film, and TV, as well as running our own theatre and production company.
From Meisner to the Given Circumstances, we’ve adapted various methods and techniques to be accessible for all ages—yes, even Meisner can be taught to young actors, as long as you know the right approach.
We’ve spent years perfecting how to make complex techniques clear and engaging for every level of actor.

When we grew our team, we realised that simply offering written guides wasn’t enough. We needed to demonstrate how to effectively lead a game or exercise, which is why our platform combines short, practical video demos with clear, printable guides.
This approach ensures you not only understand the theory but also see the exercises in action, saving you valuable time and helping you teach with confidence.
We also noticed a problem with many scripts for young performers: only a handful of actors got substantial roles, while the rest were left with little to do. This didn’t align with our philosophy of learning, discovery, and collaboration, over competition. So, we began writing our own original scripts, giving every student a chance to shine. Thanks to Ian’s scriptwriting talent, we’ve built a collection of scripts that ensure all actors get meaningful opportunities to perform.
