Splat Off

A Splat Off is played to determine the winner when you have two students left at the end of a game.

  1. SET THE STAGE: Ask the two final contestants to stand back-to-back in the middle of the space, ready
    to turn quickly.
  2. CHOOSE A CATEGORY: Another student (or the instructor) selects a category, such as colours, animals, or fruits. Ensure the person announcing words understands the rules and keeps the pace snappy.
  3. START THE GAME: The announcer lists words from the chosen category. For example, if the category is colours: “Red, blue, green…” Every time a word is said from the category the player take a step forward.
At any moment, the announcer must say a word that doesn’t belong to the category, such as “bear” during a round of colours.
  4. REACT AND DETERMINE THE WINNER: The two contestants must quickly turn around and shout “Splat!” when they hear the “out-of-category” word. The first person to say “Splat!” wins!

have fun with it!
